What is YA-MC?
Is a bunch of people learning to do life together, to follow Jesus and to serve others. Done a year at a time, it’s a space where you can learn and develop as a person, as a leader and as a Christian. We do this through two forms of learning, formal training and experience. The whole year is a chance to learn together by reflection of your experiences. We also offer pathways of study through Theology House and Laidlaw College. Some funding may be available.
We exist to disciple young adult followers of Jesus both residential and in small groups. If you are a young adult that wants to grow closer to Jesus? That wants to develop your leadership skills? And/or would you like to learn how to do mission? Then come meet us for coffee at 200 Riccarton Rd.
So why not come and join us, you will grow as a person and as a leader!

Faith groups are a great way to connect with others, make friends, and learn more about following Jesus.
There are a number of different types of faith groups meeting around Spreydon, Riccarton and beyond. Groups vary in purpose and style.
Faith groups for young adults are hosted in Riccarton at the Missional Community House called ‘Good Dirt’. These groups cater for school leavers, students, and all young adults city wide. They provide an environment to deepen friendships and learn more about following Christ and serving other.
During the year we host a couple of hui/gatherings for faith group leaders to discuss and to provide quality material and resources. The hui is to refresh and equip us for the months ahead.
Each year we also host a wide scope of specialised workshops and courses such as Bible Discovery Method, leading a bible study, the prayer course, Alpha Course (intro to Christianity).
Groups such as: women/men only, some for specific life-stages, Bible study, environment, New to faith, prophecy, mission, care groups. Others are all welcome.
Each year we also host limited space groups such as Alpha marriage courses, The Prayer course and the Alpha Course. The marriage course is a great way to invest in your most precious relationship while Alpha is for those who want to know more about the Christian faith.
If you’ve recently joined St MJ’s or are considering making St MJ’s your home, we’d love to invite you to our next Newcomers Meal. You’ll hear a bit more about the St MJ’s story and how you could get involved. It’s a great chance to meet other newcomers. We’d love to see you there.
COME ALONGLearn a simple, structured way of opening the Bible story with someone to help you on the journey.
COME ALONGWe run the Alpha Course, and you're invited! Alpha is a series of dinners and discussions that freely explore the Christian faith, the person of Jesus, and what this could mean for you.
Each session includes a meal, a short film, and a discussion where you can share your thoughts with a small group.
These groups are a great way to get together around a shared vision for your neck of the woods. If you want to find your fit and join energising conversations
around mission and discipleship as a way of preparing the soil for the future then these are the groups for you.

YOUNG ADULT MISSIONAL COMMUNITY
Is a group of young adults learning to do life together, committing a year at a time to follow Jesus and to serve others. The missional community is a space where they can learn and develop as people, engage deeply with scripture, adopt prayer rhythms and develop as Christian leaders.
There are multiple ways of learning; relational, formational activities, camps, retreats, and community work and more. Following the yearly rhythm allows time for practice and reflection. Further opportunities are available through Theology House and Laidlaw College. Some part scholarships may be available. Are you a young adult that wants to grow closer to Jesus and learn to further develop your leadership skills? If so, come and join us for a coffee at 200 Riccarton Road or email us at hello@stmjs.nz
We are on a journey of hope, actively caring for God’s earth. We partner with church communities across Aotearoa who are actively caring for the environment as an integral part of their mission.
Creation care is integral to the good news of Christ, this is our Kaitiakitanga, our hope. As followers of Jesus we are all called to participate in Jesus’s healing and reconciliation of relationships with God, one another and with all creation. All of us are made in the image of God and given responsibility to reflect God’s character in knowing, delighting in and caring for the God’s creation, the Earth. This is our future hope.
